ABOUT ME

Shanon focuses on age groups like tweens, adolescents, young adults, and those of middle age. She specializes in addressing issues such as abuse, addiction, ADHD, anger, anxiety, asexuality, aromanticism, gray areas, demi identities, the ACE spectrum, the autism spectrum, bipolar patterns, burnout, bullying, and the experiences of children with addicted parents or religious leaders. Her expertise also covers cognitive-communication, sexual relationships, cults and their survivors, dissociation, gender nonbinary and non-conforming identities, queer experiences, and providing gender-affirming care.

She supports individuals facing grief or loss, those who identify as highly sensitive, and employs holistic coaching techniques. Other areas of focus for her include trauma and intergenerational trauma healing, intuitive eating, anti-diet learning, mindfulness or meditation, parenting, polyamory/non-monogamy/open relationships, PTSD, and counseling related to pregnancy, prenatal care, and premarital issues. Additionally, she addresses relationship dynamics, self-esteem, compassion, sexual therapy, and issues surrounding sexual compulsivity and harassment, particularly concerning troubled teens. Her areas of special focus incorporate decolonization, sex positivity, and being an ally to sex workers, as well as providing spiritual healing practices and support groups for those experiencing spiritual or religious trauma.

Shanon identifies with lived experiences as asexual or aromantic, gray, demi, queer, and as a highly sensitive woman or femme. Her cultural knowledge encompasses African American, Mexican American, Western European, White American/Canadian, Whiteness, and Southeast Asian cultures.

The therapeutic modalities she employs include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), addiction counseling, Adlerian therapy, anger management, integration astrology, integrated attachment theory, breathwork, compassion-focused therapy, culturally responsive and affirming practices, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), energy psychology, existential therapy, family systems therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness-based stress reduction and therapy (including MBCT), narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, somatic experiencing and therapy, as well as spiritual healing practices and strength-based, trauma-informed therapy, incorporating yoga.

As someone who has survived complex trauma, she truly appreciates the diverse aspects of the process. In sessions with Shannon, you will find a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where you can be authentic.

Throughout her internship, her professional growth and clinical practice have been under the direct supervision and guidance of Katherine Quintero, a Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) She/Her.
