MSW Intern
ABOUT ME
Brittney is a Clinical Social Work intern currently pursuing her MSW degree at New Mexico State University. She has extensive social work experience serving diverse individuals from marginalized communities in the Los Angeles area and beyond through advocacy and community engagement on several issues such as environmental justice, tribal rights, reproductive rights, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
As a multi-racial female, she understands the physical and emotional effects of racism and its negative impact on individuals and communities. Brittney takes a strength-based and individualized approach to therapy that honors the unique social environment, personal beliefs and lived experiences of each client. She integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness, 12-Step Recovery, Attachment Theory, and Trauma- Informed Care. In addition, she has a passion for Neuroscience and the mind-body connection.
Brittney is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for her clients. She is passionate about challenging institutionalized white systems of power in health care and actively embraces resilience, compassion, self-advocacy, and cultural sensitivity in the therapeutic healing process. She is particularly interested in working with older adults and individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing chronic pain, disability, anxiety, and depression.
Brittney enjoys practicing meditation, mindfulness, yoga, breathwork, and exercise as part of daily self-care. In her free time, she loves being with animals, hiking in nature, and going to the ocean.
Throughout her internship, her professional growth and clinical practice is directly supervised by Kayley Harrington, (She/Her) LICSW
